Four Cavaliers had two goals apiece in the Virginia women's lacrosse team's 12-9 win over Richmond on Wednesday.

Virginia rattled off six straight goals over a 15-minute span in the first period -- including two apiece from senior Josie Owen and freshman Jess Loizeaux -- to erase an early 1-0 Richmond lead. The Spiders responded with three goals in the period's final five minutes to cut the UVa lead to 6-4 at the half.

Richmond was able to get within a goal of tying the match twice in the second period, but the Cavaliers used another four-goal-in-five-minute burst to pull away for good.

Liza Blue and Charlie Finnigan also had a pair of goals for UVa, who improved to 2-0 with the win. Ainsley Baker -- who scored five times in Saturday's season-opening win over Loyola -- had one goal on Tuesday. Anne Thomas, Julie Gardner, and Sloan Warren also scored.
