UVa Women Earn First Win In Four Years Over Florida State
The Virginia women's basketball team beat Florida State, 62-52, Sunday afternoon. It was the Cavaliers' first win over the Seminoles in four seasons.

The Virginia women’s basketball team defeated Florida State, 62-52, Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers improved to 16-7 overall and 4-5 in ACC play. UVa also improved to 12-2 at home this season and topped the Seminoles for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

Senior guard Ariana Moorer was the Cavaliers’ leading scorer for the seventh time this season, scoring 15 points with four rebounds and two assists. Junior guard Lexie Gerson added 13 points and five steals and Ataira Franklin chipped in 11 points and tied a career-high with six steals.

As a team, Virginia forced 23 Florida State turnovers and scored 28 points off of those turnovers. The Cavaliers out-rebounded the Seminoles, 36-34.

Virginia hits the road to take on North Carolina on Friday at 8:30 p.m.
