Virginia Announces VCU Series, ACC Hoops Opponents

It's been one of the worst-kept secrets in Charlottesville for months. And on Tuesday, Virginia finally confirmed the school's two game basketball series with Virginia Commonwealth University.

The teams will meet in each of the next two seasons, with the Rams visiting Charlottesville this year, and Virginia making the trip to VCU next year. This year's game will be the first meeting between the two programs since November 1998, an 86-70 UVa win in Pete Gillen's debut as head coach.

Virginia also confirmed the team's ACC opponents for the 2013-14 basketball season. the 18-game conference schedule includes four against ACC newcomers Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse.

Notre Dame is one of four programs the Cavaliers will play home-and-home series against this season, along with Florida State, Maryland, and Virginia Tech. Virginia will host Syracuse and travel to Pittsburgh.

The remaining home opponents include Boston College, Miami, North Carolina, and Wake Forest. Virginia will also visit Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, and NC State.
