Mark Cockerton scored a career-high six goals and the Virginia Cavaliers beat VMI 18-4 Tuesday evening at Klöckner Stadium.
After VMI scored early, Virginia took over. The Cavaliers reeled off 15-straight goals, including Cockerton’s six.
Nick O’Reilly and Cockerton took turns scoring the first four goals, finishing the early spurt with two apiece. Then Rob Emery and Cockerton traded goals twice to take the 8-1 advantage. After another Cockerton goal, Owen Van Arsdale scored twice to conclude the first half scoring. UVa entered the intermission with an 11-1 lead.
Virginia travels to Long Island Saturday to take on the Stony Brook Seawolves of the America East Conference.
