Virginia Offense Erupts Again in Blowout of Georgia Tech

Akil Mitchell scored 18 points, Joe Harris added 15 and Jontel Evans had eight assists as Virginia routed Georgia Tech, 82-54, Sunday at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Yellow Jackets got within five points early in the second half but
Virginia responded with a 16-1 run over the next 4-plus minutes to take a 61-41 lead.

Evans had two drives to the hoop during the surge and freshman Taylor Barnette capped it with back-to-back 3-pointers.

Freshman Mike Tobey also returned to action Sunday after missing the previous five games with mononucleosis. He scored seven points.

Virginia (19-8, 9-5) will host No. 6 Duke Thursday.
