The Virginia women's basketball team fell in double overtime at Alabama Friday afternoon.
The Cavaliers (6-4) and Crimson Tide (7-3) were tied at 29 at the half. Virginia trailed by a bucket late in the second half when Sarah Imovbioh knocked down a jumper to tie the game at 58 with 30 seconds left.
Alabama then missed a last second chance at the win, sending the game into overtime.
In the extra frame, a Simone Egwu free throw gave UVa a three-point lead with seven seconds left but Alabama's Shafonte Myers drilled the game-tying three with three seconds on the clock to force a second overtime.
Another Myers three gave the Tide a 69-68 lead but another Egwu jumper gave the Cavs a 70-69 edge with 1:30 left.
However Alabama would knock down free throws from there to seal the 73-70 win.
Kelsey Wolfe led the Cavaliers with 16 points and Egwu added 11.
