Watford Named Cavs' Starting Quarterback

Mike London had planned to name a starting quarterback early in training camp this year, and on Monday he did just that. David Watford will be the Cavaliers' starting quarterback, London announced on his teleconference as week two of camp begins.

London told reporters that Watford's mobility factored into the decision, adding that his overall development and game experience helped the redshirt sophomore clinch the job. He also emphasized that Watford has the respect of the team, and that he has the ability to be the face of the program.

Watford entered camp No. 1 on the depth chart, ahead of redshirt freshman Greyson Lambert. He spent the first week of practice running the first-team offense.

Watford redshirted last season, but as a freshman in 2011 he played in 10 game, behind starting quarterback Michael Rocco.
