Western Albemarle's Emily Marbury signed her letter of intent to play soccer at VMI Monday afternoon. The Warriors' goal keeper earned all-Region II honors as a junior last year.
Marbury verbally committed to the Keydets last May, and says it's exciting to finally making it official.
"It's a relief," she said after signing. "It kind of takes the stress off the rest of my year, knowing where I'm going and everything. It makes it so I can just play. I don't have to worry about coaches coming and having to watch out for them or anything like that. I can just play and enjoy my last season."
Marbury says she had also been in contact with High Point, but once she visited VMI, she made her decision.
"When I went there I loved it. People were like, 'VMI, wow it's a hard school.' But I don't know, something about it, just the environment, the coach, the team, they just sealed the deal."
