The Western Albemarle girls basketball team fell in the Division 3 state quarterfinals to Brunswick, 55-31 at the Siegel Center Saturday night.
The Warriors, playing in their second state tournament in three years, trailed by 25-9 at halftime and couldn't close the gap in the second half.
The teams opened the game trading turnovers and Western only trailed by two midway through the first quarter.
That's when the Bulldogs went on a 19-2 run that effectively ended the game, with Bria Stith scoring eight in the span.
Western senior Bridget Shaffrey led the team with eight points in her final contest.
