Life in Class AA is fitting Tyler Wilson quite well so far.
The former Cavalier is thriving with the Bowie Baysox, the Class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.
Wilson is 3-0 in four starts since being promoted to Bowie from Class A Frederick earlier this month.
Wilson's last victory came in his own backyard. The Midlothian native shut out Richmond in front of family and friends.
The righty has a 2.93 ERA with the Baysox and is holding batters to a .195 average. He credits working on his craft for his success.
"I'm just trying to go out each and every day and get better," He explained. "This is an amazing opportunity to be here. It's a special experience. So each and every day I make it a point to go out and work on something and try to improve my craft in one field or another but most importantly just enjoy each day."
Wilson got to face his former UVa teammate Jarrett Parker in Tuesday's win. The two are part of a sizable contingent of former Cavaliers in the minor leagues, including Danny Hultzen, John Hicks and Steven Proscia.
Wilson says they all keep in touch and root for each other -- so long as their teams aren't playing each other, that is.
"I'm so proud of each and every one of them. Guys moving up in their respective organizations, doing amazing things. Getting better every day and having a chance to achieve their dreams of playing in the big leagues."
"We all had a great relationship while we were there and experienced so many great things together. That's a bond that will never be broken between any of us."
