The Covenant Eagles finished the 2009 season with a disappointing record of 3-7. This season they look to improve under first-year head coach Dandridge Payne.
Payne was defensive coordinator for the Eagles in 2009, so the players know him well. He says the experience that he got last year as a defensive coordinator will help prepare him for his first season as a head coach.
The Eagles feel they have a good mix of senior leadership and talented underclassmen, and they believe this combination will help lead them back to the playoffs in 2010. Several key players return at the skill positions including quarterback Lee Coppock and running back Chris Shifflett.
