Last season, St. Anne's Belfield finished the year 4-4 and missed the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. Now the Saints are looking to use that as motivation to get back to the postseason and put together a winning campaign.
STAB head coach John Blake had his team out on the field at 6:30 am for the first week of practice in an effort to beat the heat and players showed up ready to work. Experienced players return at many of the skill positions to help lead the team. Blake says that you can expect his team to run the ball and that's where he expects the Saints to have a lot of their success.
Last season saw STAB complete in Division I of the VISAA, but this year, the Saints will go back to Division II and hope to return to the playoffs and make a run at a state championship. Their 2010 schedule features match ups against cross-town rival Covenant and traditional foe Blue Ridge.
The Saints kick off their season on September 3 as they travel to Bishop Sullivan. Click on the above video link to view the preview of the 2010 STAB Saints.
