After two straight winless seasons, the William Monroe Dragons are off to a 2-0 start in 2010.
The Dragons began the season with a 49-12 win over East Rockingham at home and followed that up with a 36-14 win over Madison on the road. Head Coach Mark Sanford credits the turnaround to the players buying into the system he installed last season. He also says the experience the players got last season is paying dividends, as nearly every one of the Dragons' starters saw significant time in 2009.
Winning has also boosted morale and the players say there has been a noticeable difference in the locker room and on the practice field. The Dragons are eager to get better at every practice and the enthusiasm on Friday nights is a lot higher than it was last year.
The Dragons will try to improve to 3-0 Friday when they take on Eastern View.
