High School Holiday Classic: Day One Round-Up

The annual High School Holiday Classic started Thursday afternoon.

Western Albemarle and Heritage started off the boys action on day one. The Warriors rolled over Heritage 80-54. On the other side of the bracket, Monticello defeated Louisa County, 64-47. The Mustangs move on to play Western Albemarle on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Monticello High School. The Lions move into the losers' bracket to play Heritage at 3:00 p.m.

Defending tournament champions Albemarle lost in the first round to Culpeper County, 62-43. Charlottesville defeated Waynesboro 64-53. Charlottesville and Culpeper move into the winners' bracket and play Friday at 9:00 p.m. at Monticello. Waynesboro and Albemarle play at 4:30.

On the girls side, defending champions Charlottesville defeated Culpeper, 63-36. Western Albemarle fell to Waynesboro in overtime, 76-69. The Little Giants will play the Black Knights Friday at 9:00 p.m. at Charlottesville High School. The Warriors will play Culpeper at 4:30 p.m.

Orange County girls defeated Monticello, 48-34. Spotswood defeated Albemarle, 56-45. The Hornets and the Trial Blazers will play in the winner's bracket on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Charlottesville. Monticello and Albemarle plat at 3:00 p.m.
