Sam Roller scored 16 points, while Hines Banks added ten, as the Monticello Boys Basketball Team knocked off Fluvanna 46-42. Julian Ramirez paced the Flucos with 12 points in the losing cause, while Xavier Holland scored ten.
Kevin Leatherwood scored 14 points in his return from an ankle injury as Charlottesville topped Western Albemarle, 72-59. The Black Knights opened up a lead in the first quarter, and held off a Warriors comeback to take the victory.
In one other Jefferson District match up, Orange topped Louisa 72-50.
In Commonwealth District action, Albemarle took district leader Brooke Point to overtime, but was unable to pull out the win, as the Black Hawks topped the Patriots, 46-44. Adam Utz led the way with 14 points, while Darrius Turner added nine. Albemarle falls to 6-8 on the year, and has lost two straight.
Two of the top ranked private school teams met tonight, as Miller topped Blue Ridge, 63-53. The Barons were without Andrey Semenov, who was ejected last night and suspended for tonight's game, and the Mavericks capitalized. Marshawn Powell paced the Mavs with 14 points in the win.
On the girls side, Charlottesville defeated Western Albemarle 56-43, behind 18 points from Shalita Brown. Shawntae Payne added 15, while Elizabeth Von Storch pitched in eleven. The Black Knights jumped out to a 22-7 lead after the first quarter, and cruised to victory.
