Kevin Leatherwood scored 18 points, as the Charlottesville Boys Basketball Team used a second half rally to top Monticello, 45-34. The two teams were close for the entire first half, before the Knights opened up the lead.
Orange used 23 points from Ryan Van Hook to get by Fluvanna, 67-57. D.J. Brown added 22 for the Hornets. Terrell Scott led the Flucos with 14 points. Fluvanna had pulled to within four late in the fourth quarter, but the Hornets hit key free throws down the stretch, and held on for the win.
In other Jefferson District action, William Monroe topped Louisa, 66-56. The Dragons got half of their points from Mike Roach, who put up 33 on the night.
In private school action, the Miller School had no problem with Liberty Christian, topping the Bulldogs, 65-33. Shamar Bowden led a balanced Mavericks attack with 16 points. Miller held LCA to two points in the first quarter, and cruised to victory from there.
On the girls side, Charlottesville got a huge double-double from Shalita Brown, as the Knights beat Monticello, 48-27. Brown scored 20 points and pulled down 22 rebounds in the win. Shawntae Payne added 15 points for Charlottesville as well.
