The Western Albemarle girls basketball team earned the Jefferson District regular season title tonight, as the Warriors topped Orange, 47-38. Both teams entered with 10-1 district records. The Hornets finish second in the district, while Charlottesville finishes third at 9-3.

The boys side has yet to determine its champion. Entering tonight, both Monticello and Orange could move into a first place tie with Charlottesville with wins. The Hornets got 20 points from Quintin Hunter, but they were not able to stop Western Albemarle, as the Hornets fell tonight, 54-50. Travis Washington chipped in eleven points for the Warriors. Western went into the locker room up one, and held on for the four point win, ending Orange's title hopes.

Monticello capitalized, topping William Monroe, 53-52. The Mustangs went into halftime up 12 points, and had to hold off a late Dragon comeback attempt. Hines Banks scored 22 points for Monticello in the win.

Charlottesville and Monticello now both hold 9-3 district records, and will decide the regular season champion in a one game playoff on Saturday night. The Knights and Hornets will battle at Western Albemarle at 8:00.
