Charlottesville and Orange County already locked up bids to the Region II tournament. Charlottesville already secured home court advantage and a first-round bye, so Saturday night's Jefferson District tournament finals was just for bragging rights. Orange County completed the upset over regular-season district champion Black Knights 59-43. Omari Minor did not play for the Knights as he is recovering from a back injury. Orange will play in the Region II quarterfinals this Tuesday. Their site and opponent have not yet been announced. Charlottesville will not play again until next Thursday in the Region II semifinals.
On the girls side, Charlottesville upset Western Albemarle 59-53. Shawntae Payne lead all scorers with 28 points. Mary Schwartz led the Warriors with 20 points. Both teams advance to the regional tournament and will host the quarterfinals this Tuesday.
