OC's Quintin Hunter Commits to UVa

March 22, 2008

Last fall in Orange County, Quintin Hunter was handed one of the toughest jobs in Central Virginia football: replacing Brad Starks. How do you step in for one of the most dynamic area athletes in recent history? Hunter answered the question with a fantastic season, and Saturday the quarterback announced his college future, and he's not changing school colors.

Hunter verbally committed to play for the Cavaliers in 2009. He told thesabre.com that he picked Virginia over Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Maryland and Stanford.

"I committed to UVa," Hunter told thesabre.com. "I committed because first, when I was thinking about schools that were recruiting me, UVa was the one recruiting me the hardest. I know almost every coach on the coaching staff now. All of them are special to me. Plus, I'm better off being there with it being so close to home. My parents can easily come see me play."

According to the website, UVa likes his ability to play wide receiver, but he will get a look at quarterback as well.
