Western Albemarle traveled to Liberty to kick off its football season, but had a rough go at it, as the Warriors fell to the Minutemen, 33-0. Western falls to Liberty in its season opener for the second straight season.
Liberty jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a Lavarta Tanner run in the first quarter. After a second quarter that saw the Minutemen score on a punt return and a reception, the Warriors found themselves trailing 20-0 at halftime, and were unable to find the scoreboard in the second half.
The Warriors will continue their road trip to open up the season next Friday, as they travel to Waynesboro. The Little Giants are coached by former Warriors head coach Steve Issacs.
