Several high school tournaments wrapped up Tuesday night, with local teams looking to capture championship trophies.
In the Daily Progress Holiday Classic, Albemarle took on Spotswood in the boys championship game. The Patriots made it interesting at the end of the game, but the Blazers would hold on for the 60-52 win. Charlottesville beat Buckingham 65-61 to take third place, while Covenant got its first win of the tournament, beating Culpeper 72-67. The Eagles took 7th place.
On the girls side, it was Miller and Spotswood for the championship game, with Spotswood coming out on top 42-27. Orange fell to Patrick Henry in the third place game 60-48, while Charlottesville beat Albemarle 46-43 in the 5th place game.
William Monroe also hosted a holiday tournament, with both Dragons squads playing in the championship game. The boys cruised to the championship with an 80-50 win over Atlee, but the girls came up just a little short of making it a sweep for the home teams. Fluvanna beat William Monroe 49-48 in overtime to win the girls championship.
