The Albemarle Boys Basketball Team played host to North Stafford Wednesday night in Commonwealth District action and the contest was nothing short of an instant classic. In a close match up that required three overtime periods to finish, the Wolverines topped the Patriots, 77-76. Albemarle's Andre Roberts scored 35 points in the loss.
Western Albemarle got 17 points from Travis Washington, as the Warriors downed Fluvanna, 71-67, in Jefferson District play. Terrell Scott led the Flucos with 15 points in the losing effort.
Girls action found the Warriors and Flucos battling as well. Western Albemarle went into halftime with a four point lead, but Fluvanna came alive in the second half, taking the game, 65-53. K-anna Loyd led the way with 27 points, with Mia Loyd adding 19.
Monticello and Tandem Friends took the court in a battle of Mill Creek Drive. In a closely contested game, the Badgers got the best of the Mustangs, sneaking away with the 64-62 win.
Bethany Leake scored 19 points to lead William Monroe, as the Dragons topped Orange, 64-47.
