Western Albemarle and Orange boys basketball are both hovering near the top of the Jefferson District standings, and Friday night saw the two meet in Crozet. The Warriors showed that Tuesday's win against Charlottesville was no fluke, avoiding the let down with a 75-56 win.
William Monroe and Monticello met on the boys side in district action as well, with the match up going down to the fourth quarter. The Dragons got the upper hand, and pulled away down the stretch for the 72-66 win.
Alex Farina scored 19 points and Terrell Scott added 15 to lead Fluvanna to a 69-56 win over Louisa on Friday night. The Flucos earned their first district win, while the Lions are still in search of that feat. C.J. Lambert led Louisa with 13 points, while Anthony Hunter added eleven in the loss.
In Commonwealth District action, Albemarle hosted Stafford and the Patriots came up short. The Indians topped Albemarle, 57-47, despite 19 points from Cameron Anderson. The loss marks the Pats' second straight.
In girls action, Orange and Western Albemarle met in Crozet, with the Hornets cruising to the big 63-40 win. Jazmine Johnson and Sade Johnson each scored 12 points for the Hornets in the win.
The William Monroe girls had no problems with Monticello on Friday night, topping the Mustangs, 60-37. Other Jefferson District action saw Fluvanna to Louisa 47-36.
