The Albemarle High School boys soccer team just completed a memorable season, highlighted by a district championship and a 19-1 record.
The Patriots finished the regular season undefeated and went on to win the district championship in dominating fashion, outscoring opponents 16-1 in their three games. A lot of the credit for the team's success goes to the play of the defense. The Patriots only gave up seven goals in 20 games this season.
Albemarle lost its first and only game of the season Monday against Osbourn Park in the regional playoffs. Despite falling short of their ultimate goal of a state championship, the Patriots are still proud of all they were able to accomplish this year. The team will now have to replace 10 seniors from this year's squad.
