Women in Sports (WinS) held its 13th annual awards banquet Monday night at Saint Anne's-Belfield School, honoring local high school athletes for their achievements in sports and academics.
WinS recognized scholar athletes from the Charlottesville/Albemarle area in 11 different sports: basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, tennis, volleyball, cross country, indoor track, soccer, swimming & diving, and track & field. Six seniors were also nominated for the Claudia Dodson Integrity in Sport Award and the DeDe Owens Leadership Award. Charlottesville's Monica Matsumoto took home the Dodson award, while Albemarle's Mackenzie Sloan won the Owens award.
