Albemarle Post 74 took the field tonight and emerged victorious in a slug fest with Orange Post 156, 18-12.
Albemarle got on the board first with a Thomas Stallidge two run home run in the first. The Hornets put the next big blow on the board. Down 2-1 in the second, Lazaro Torres connected on a pitch with the bases loaded and sent it over the fence for a grand slam, giving Post 156 the 5-2 lead.
Post 74 climbed back to take the lead, and put up 18 runs on the night, falling one run shy of their season high in this early summer game. Albemarle put up 19 runs on Waynesboro last Thursday.
The two teams will rematch again tomorrow. First pitch is set for 7:00pm at Albemarle High School.
