Two local high school teams entered Tuesday night with perfect Jefferson District records. One was able to stay that way, while the other experienced a district loss for the first time.
The Charlottesville boys traveled to Fluvanna with the Flucos pulling off the upset. Fluvanna pulled away with a late fourth quarter run to earn the 82-74 victory. Ya Ya Anderson scored 25 points to pace Fluvanna. Maurice Jackson and Devin Turner scored 20 points each for the Black Knights in the loss.
Orange and William Monroe went down to the wire. The two teams needed two overtime periods to decide the match up, with the Hornets winning, 81-79.
Albemarle hit the road to Massaponax and had a solid performance. The Patriots rolled past the Panthers, 51-26. Andrew Mann dropped 20 points to lead Albemarle, with Rashad Talley scoring eleven.
Girls action saw Fluvanna remain undefeated in the Jefferson District. The Flucos topped Charlottesville, 61-46. Fluvanna opened up an eleven point lead by halftime and never looked back as they stay unblemished in district play.
Western Albemarle stayed just two games behind the Flucos with a 58-33 win over Louisa. Ellen Shaffrey scored 14 points to pace the Warriors, while Nikki Kritzer led the Lions with seven in the losing effort.
Monticello completed the season sweep of Goochland, earning a 65-56 win on the road.
The Albemarle girls tangled with Massaponax Tuesday night and got the 57-54 win in Commonwealth District action.
