Several of our area high school teams will find themselves in different districts in all sports come the 2011-2012 school year. It is all part of the VHSL's classification realignment.

Orange will move from AA to AAA and leave the Jefferson District. The Hornets will move into the Commonwealth District and be district rivals with Albemarle. Goochland will leave the Jefferson District and move back down to class A. The Bulldogs will join the James River District. Goochland made its Jefferson District debut during the 2009-2010 school year and will depart after just two years of AA competition. Powhatan will move from the Southside District to the Jefferson District, giving the Jefferson seven teams beginning in 2011-2012.

We will continue to bring you information regarding any future movement of high school teams.
