Due to the threat of winter weather on Friday, many area teams moved their scheduled games up to Thursday night.
Western Albemarle made the trip to Monticello where the Mustangs had upset on their minds. The two teams battled close the entire way, with the Warriors pulling out the 49-44 win. Western's Christian Pierce scored his 1,000th career point in the second quarter.
Charlottesville stayed one game up on the Warriors. The Knights traveled to William Monroe and topped the Dragons, 75-67. Charlottesville improves to 9-1 in district play.
Albemarle topped Massaponax, 63-54, in Commonwealth District action. Rashad Talley led the way with 24 points to lead the Patriots to the win.
Girls action saw Fluvanna top Orange, 59-45. The Flucos remain unbeaten in the Jefferson District and move one step closer to clinching the regular season crown.
Western Albemarle got 22 points from Ellen Shaffrey as the Warriors cruised past Monticello, 75-48. The Warriors are two games behind the Flucos in the standings.
