Albemarle, Western Albemarle to Install Turf Fields

October 15, 2010

The sports landscape will soon change at some Albemarle County schools.

Albemarle and Western Albemarle high schools are getting synthetic turf fields, similar to the one already installed at Monticello High School.

The schools have been raising money for several years, but both schools report they have collected enough donations after an anonymous donor said he would pick up half the tab.

Monticello began using its new turf field in the fall of 2009 after school leaders and boosters were able to raise the additional money necessary.

Installation at Albemarle and Western Albemarle will begin soon.
