It's bound to be a fight to the finish the James River District of high school football. On Monday night two of the front-runners battled in out in a postponed game from Friday.
Amelia jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. The Raiders added to their lead after a sack on Knights' quarterback Tarian Ayers resulted in a fumble recovery for the visitors. Amelia also returned a punt 60-yards for a touchdown to end the half up 22-0.
Buckingham got on the board in the second half but allowed two more touchdowns from Amelia, resulting in their first loss of the season 36-7.
The Knights return to action Friday, hosting Nottoway in a homecoming game.
*In other high school action Monday, Goochland improved to 4-0 with a 46-13 victory over Central Lunenburg.
