Four Blue Ridge senior lacrosse players who were teammates will be rivals in the future, after they signed letters of intent to play at competing schools on Tuesday.
Three of the Barons will be playing in the South Atlantic Conference. Max Morgan will play at Queens University in Charlotte, Dima Ferreira signed on to play at Mars Hill, and Rylee Marsh will join the lacrosse team at Coker College.
Callum Tanner signed his letter of intent to play at Belmont Abbey on Tuesday. While the Crusaders are in a different conference, Tanner will likely still play against his former teammates in non-conference action.
"I chose Belmont Abbey for their academics and that I'll actually have an impact and play," Tanner said Tuesday. "I've just always played it and it's just a good opportunity to keep going to school and playing lacrosse."
For Max Morgan, the decision to keep playing lacrosse in college was also an easy one.
"I've just loved the sport and played it pretty much my whole life, so I thought I'd continue on in college," said the Queens University commit. "It's a great business school, it's close to home, and it's not too cold," he added.
"It's a lot closer to home and it's a great school," Ferreira says of why he chose Mars Hill. "I looked at it before I even decided to play lacrosse there, and I just started to like it, so that's why I picked it."
"I've been playing ever since I was three years old, so I knew I was going to play and it would help me pay for school," Marsh says of his decision to continue his lacrosse career at Coker College. "The guys are good, they had a good time, and they're an up and coming program, so I want to be a part of that."
