Blue Ridge lacrosse co-captains Chase Fraser and Quinton Pavan will be teammates for another four years. On Friday, the Barons celebrated their commitments to playing at the University of DC, in the inaugural season for the school's lacrosse team.
"It's going to be a new program," said Pavan of his future team. "I get to be a big part of the program. Not a lot of people get the opportunity to set the standard for the school as an athletic program. It's going to be a learning experience for all of us."
"Knowing it's a first year program, down the road when I'm graduated, ten years from now I can say I helped start that program to where it is today," added Fraser. "I think people are going to underestimate us, but I think we're going to come out with a big bang."
Both seniors were named first-team all-VIC this season, Fraser as an attacker and Pavan as a defender. The Barons teammates are looking forward to playing with each other again, in a different uniform.
"It helped me with the decision, because I knew he was getting talked to too, by Coach [Scott] Urick," Fraser said of making his decision to play at the University of DC. "We talked to each other and said it could be a good idea. We could start something new and just, it would be good for both of us to have someone that we've known for the last two years."
"It's going to make it more comfortable, knowing someone I have great chemistry with on and off the field," added Pavan. "It's going to make the experience fun, having someone there."
