Blue Ridge Stays Undefeated, Holds Off Miller

January 13, 2011

With an undefeated season intact through eight games, the Blue Ridge Barons were on a tear heading into a rivalry game with the Miller School on Thursday night. A game which was rescheduled from Tuesday due to snow.

The Mavericks and Barons went shot for shot throughout most of the first period of play, but Blue Ridge managed to pull away late in the first half and held a 30-22 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Mavericks made their run. Thanks to strong play from Janeil Jenkins, Miller pulled to a 50-50 tie in the fourth quarter. The plot would thicken from there.

Down 54-52 with just one second remaining on the clock, Miller's Andrew White saw his game winning three point shot rattle off the rim sealing the deal on a Blue Ridge victory.

The Barons improve to 9-0 on the season while the Mavericks fall to 5-6.
