Nelson County High School senior Elizabeth Alderfer is this week's choice for Burger King Student Athlete of the Week.
Alderfer loves cross country because she says it's a good way to relieve her stress. This past season, she helped lead the Governors to a second place finish at the Dogwood District meet, and ended up running her personal best time at the regional meet (her final race of the season).
Alderfer is not only the top runner on the girls' cross country team, she's also the top student in her senior class. Her 4.5 weighted GPA currently has her on track to become the school's valedictorian. She also has been an athletic training assistant for the football team for the past two years and serves on the Student Council Association as well.
Alderfer plans on attending Eastern Mennonite University next year, where she will pursue a career in physical therapy.
