Monticello senior Nathaniel Hermsmeier is this week's choice for Burger King Student Athlete of the Week.

Hermsmeier had a stellar cross country season, finishing 11th at the state meet and earning all-state honors. He also set the school record in the 5000 meter race with a time of 16:00. Hermsmeier is currently competing in indoor track for the Mustangs and serves as a captain, just as he did for the cross country team.

While he works hard on the track, Hermsmeier also works hard in the classroom. He has been on the honor roll every semester and currently carries a weighted GPA of 4.66. He is a Monticello Scholar in math, science and engineering, and he also belongs to four different honor societies: Math, Spanish, English and National.

Hermsmeier hopes to attend either the University of Virginia or William & Mary, and he also hopes to continue running at the collegiate level.
