Charlottesville quarterback Mason Sherry will help build the foundation of the new Alderson-Broaddus football program.
The senior quarterback is headed to the Division-II school in West Virginia on a football scholarship, according to Sherry's father, CHS football coach Eric Sherry.
Alderson-Broaddus announced in August that it was adding five sports for 2012, including football. The Battlers' athletic director, Dennis Creehan, will coach the football team.
