Both the Western Albemarle boys basketball team and the Spotswood girls basketball team entered Monday's Holiday Basketball Classic looking to defend their title they earned just one year ago. Only one of the two still stand.
Western Albemarle was ousted in the first round of play in the Holiday Basketball Classic by Waynesboro. The Little Giants took down the Warriors 37-31.
The Little Giants advance to face Albemarle who took down cross-town foe Covenant 71-52. The Patriots and Little Giants face off at 8:15 Tuesday evening.
Charlottesville's boys continued their hot streak and made easy work of Heritage 57-42. The Knights move on to the semi-finals where they'll face Culpeper at 6:30 on Tuesday. All semi-final boys action will be held at Western Albemarle High School.
On the girls side, a rematch of last year's semi-finals is in store as Western Albemarle took down Waynesboro 52-31 and Spotswood defeated Charlottesville 67-41. The Warriors will look to have it's revenge from last season at 8:15 Tuesday evening at Albemarle High School.
The other side of the bracket featured a blow out win for Miller over Albemarle 78-33. The Mavericks advance to face Liberty Christian at 6:30, also at Albemarle.
