According to ESPN, only a handful of rising high school seniors are better college football prospects than Fork Union quarterback Christian Hackenberg.
The initial ESPN 150 recruiting ranking for the class of 2013 was released on Tuesday, with Hackenberg at No. 11 overall. He's graded as a four-star prospect.
Hackenberg threw for 2,164 yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior in 2011. He's the top-ranked 'pocket passer' quarterback on the list, and the No.2 quarterback overall. Texas commit Tyrone Swoopes, regarded as a 'dual threat' quarterback, is ranked ninth overall.
Hackenberg is also the highest-ranked prospect from the state of Virginia.
The 6-4, 215-lb. Hackenberg committed to Penn State on February 29. At the time he listed Alabama, Miami, South Carolina, and Florida as his other finalists.
