Tuesday marked the 14th straight day of temperatures rising over 90 degrees. With the fall preseason in full force this week, it's a statewide effort to stay cool.
The Fluvanna football team breaks their practice session into two parts, beginning practice at the peak heat of the day around 4 p.m. and finishing at 9 p.m.
Head Coach Jason Barnett says they make a conscious effort to take precautions to keep the players safe.
"It's a protect yourself type of thing. We're doing a lot of walk-through stuff at the beginning of practice and we're gonna go full speed after our big break at the end of the day when the sun goes down and it cools down a little bit. So, you just have to take those things into consideration."
