Bradley Starks made a name for himself passing the ball and running it occasionally during his time as the Orange Hornets' quarterback, earning 2006 Jefferson District Player of the Year honors, as well as All-State recognition. Now he's trying to do the same at the college level, this time by catching the ball, and the former local stand out took a big step this past weekend.
Starks, a red-shirt junior wide receiver at West Virginia, had the best game of his collegiate career this past Saturday. He caught four passes for 100 yards and three of the receptions went for touchdowns. Starks has played in all five games for the Mountaineers this season, starting four of them, but Saturday's action marked his first receptions of the 2010 campaign. Head coach Bill Stewart hopes its a sign of things to come for the Orange County native.
The former Hornet is coming off a solid sophomore season a year ago in which he ranked third on the team in receiving with 29 catches for 405 yards and two touchdowns.
Starks and the Mountaineers return to action on Thursday as they host South Florida at 7:30 pm. Local fans can catch the former Orange star on national television, as the game will be on ESPN.
