Week 9 of the Central Virginia high school football season saw two local teams, Monticello and Buckingham, extend their winning streaks heading into pivotal Week 10 matchups.
Monticello extended its streak to five games with a 49-10 victory over Fluvanna.The Mustangs (7-1) were led by Isaac Robinson, who had 242 yards on the ground and found paydirt four times.
Monticello will take its undefeated (4-0) Jefferson District on the road to Powhatan (6-2) in Week 10. The Indians are also perfect (3-0) in the district after a dominating 35-7 victory over Louisa.
Meanwhile, in the James River District, Buckingham (7-1) rolled by Cumberland 63-20. The Knights, 4-1 in the district, are riding a 4-game winning streak and will host Goochland (5-0 in district) in Week 10. The Bulldogs are a perfect 8-0 overall and ranked No. 4 in the latest Associated Press A poll.
