Louisa County High School is always the first football team to hit the practice field and late Sunday night the tradition continued with their annual Midnight Madness event.

Hundreds of loyal Lions fans came out to show their support, witnessing the team's first practice of 2011 on LCHS baseball field. The preseason kickoff was complete with music and team trivia for the fans to enjoy.

First year head coach Jon Meeks takes over the program after serving nine years as an assistant, saying the support is overwhelming.

It's a special place. That's why I was so excited to have this opportunity, said Meeks at the conclusion of the teams first official outing. "I don't know who else has that many people show up from midnight to 2 a.m. The fans are there and they'll do anything to help us."

Senior lineman and captain John Dennis agreed, "It seems like football really means a lot to them. So you know during all of those hard days you're working hard in the weight room, that you have somebody who's really ready to back you up through thick and thin."

Louisa finished 11-1 last season and opens their game schedule August 26th at Eastern View.
