Hetzel Takes Over as Blue Ridge Lacrosse Coach

Defensive coordinator and goalie coach John Hetzel is taking over as the head lacrosse coach at Blue Ridge, the school announced Monday. Hetzel takes over for departing head coach Kyle Gardner.

Hetzel's staff includes Chazz Woodson as the coordinator of lacrosse operations, Patrick Curtin as assistant coach, and Gabe Rhea as second assistant coach.

Hetzel played college lacrosse at UVa, walking on his senior year as reserve goalie and letterman. After stints in NYC and Kentucky playing lacrosse, Hetzel moved to Europe, where he played and coached for nearly a decade.

Since returning to the USA in 2004, Hetzel has coached youth lacrosse for Seminole and ACAC in Charlottesville before taking on the assistant role at BRS in 2011.
