MAVERICKS TO PLAY FOR STATE TITLE

The Miller School girls will play for the VISAA Division-II state championship on Saturday after Friday's come-from-behind win over Norfolk Christian in the state semifinals.

The Mavericks rallied from a seven-point deficit late in the third quarter to beat the Ambassadors 44-36 on Friday. Miller will now face Cape Henry Collegiate in Saturday's title game.

The Mavericks had won consecutive VISAA Division-III state titles before making the move to Division-II this season.



PAUL VI ENDS BARONS' SEASON IN VISAA SEMIS

The season has ended for the Blue Ridge School boys basketball team in the VISAA Division-I state semifinals.

Top seed Paul VI pulled away from the Barons in the second half to win 69-48 Friday night at Virginia State University. The loss also snapped the Barons' seven-game winning streak.
