The Jefferson District boys race hit a new level Friday night. Monticello (11-7, 5-2) upset Fluvanna 74-54 to give the Flucos (6-1, 16-2) their first league loss.
Meanwhile Western Albemarle (13-6, 6-1) won their sixth straight game with an overtime victory over Charlottesville 58-53. The win moves Western and Fluvanna into a first place tie.
The Warriors and Flucos will square off for the top spot on Tuesday January 31 at the home of the Warriors. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. following junior varsity action.
