The Blue Ridge boys' basketball team won their sixth straight game in a rivalry series with the Miller School. The Barons improved to 9-3 with a 58-56 edging. The Mavericks (10-5) dropped their fifth game of the season. Andrew White led Miller with 15 points and Ahmad Brooks score a game-high 17 for Blue Ridge.
"We really need to hold the home court," said Barons' head coach Bill Ramsey. "So the pressure was on us tonight to win at home if we're gonna win the conference. I'm proud, that's a very talented Miller team."
It was a big game," added senior guard Andre Roberts. "We wanted to work real hard and compete. We played hard defense and that got us through the game."
Miller's last victory over Blue Ridge was in February 2010. The two teams will meet again on February 14 at Miller.
