Saturday night, the Albemarle and Charlottesville boys renewed their rivalry on the basketball court. The Patriots got off to a hot start and held on for a 53-47 win over the Black Knights. Albemarle's Kendall Hawkins led all scorers with 18 points and Andrew Mann chipped in 14 for the Patriots. Devin Turner led the way for Charlottesville with 14.
One night after falling to Charlottesville, the Orange boys returned to action with a home game against Madison. The Hornets beat the Mountaineers 73-65 despite a game-high 33 points from Madison's Travis Warren. Tyler Seal led Orange with 20 points on the night.
On the girls' side, Madison topped Orange 36-22 to pick up its first win of the season. Also, Charlottesville cruised to a 55-34 win over Albemarle.
