The Monticello and Charlottesville boys' and girls' basketball teams will play for Jefferson District championships Friday night.
Thursday night, the #4 seed Mustang boys beat #8 seed Western Albemarle 57-55 in the first semifinal game. Jhalil Mosely hit the game-winning shot with just 1.8 seconds remaining in the game. In the other semifinal game, #2 seed Charlottesville cruised past #3 seed Orange 83-65. Friday's boys' championship game between the Mustangs and Black Knights is set to get underway at 8:00 p.m. at Monticello High School.
Wednesday night, the #4 seed Monticello girls beat #8 seed Goochland 50-26, while #3 seed Charlottesville beat #2 seed William Monroe 46-25. Monticello and Charlottesville are set for a 6:30 tip-off from Monticello High School Friday night.
