Miller School senior forward Whitney Martin put pen to paper Wednesday afternoon as she signed her letter of intent to attend Radford University next fall.
"I knew that if I went to Radford....I love the campus," Martin explained. "I knew that it'd be a place where I could further my education as well as playing on the court so I think it's a good fit for me."
The 5'9" forward is a four-year starter for the Mavericks and averaged 13 points and four rebounds per game last season.
She is also a two-time all-conference selection and part of two state championship teams at Miller.
Playing at the next level has long been a dream for the Charlottesville native and she says she can't wait to be a Highlander.
"Just being able to play at the Division I level is something that I've looked forward to for a long time," she said. "I can't wait to get there and contribute to the team."
Martin says she's also fortunate to be able to play close to home.
"Having my friends and family there, it's close so I know they can come watch me and be supportive so I look forward to that."
